Hi, I’m Kristin and I am the recipe creator, writer and photographer behind Our Kitchen Bond!
I live in a beautiful mountain town in Southwest Montana with my husband, two kids, two dogs and a few chickens. I grew up in Germany and have lived in Montana for over 20 years. I believe that the food we eat has a direct impact on our health and overall well-being and I love to create recipes that are nutrient-rich, delicious and nourishing, without feeling restrictive or overwhelmingly difficult to make. I enjoy being creative in the kitchen, using whole, organic and minimally processed foods that are not only better for us, but also for our planet and I love to let each ingredient shine. I love nothing more than to be surrounded by friends and family while tinkering in the kitchen.
I grew up in Hamburg, Germany where I spent endless hours watching my mom cook beautiful meals every day. I loved our trips to one of the many neighborhood bakeries to pick up freshly baked breads and rolls and accompanied my mom to the local farmer’s markets, rain or shine, to buy the week’s available seasonal produce. Food holds special memories for me and I love to use it to create new memories, too. My Northern German upbringing definitely influences the way I cook, as do my struggles with joint pain and migraines.
This was ultimately what led me to deep dive into culinary nutrition and to start experimenting in the kitchen, finding ways to help me feel better. I have since adjusted my exercise habits along with my diet and strongly believe that we all need to find what works for us. Exercise that we enjoy and that does not feel like a chore, food that is delicious, while having nourishing and healing properties and daily habits to keep us energized for our own health and happiness and so that we can show up as the best version of ourselves for our family, friends and community.
At the time that I started this website, I also began taking a Natural Chef course, which allowed me to deepen my understanding of how to create recipes that support our overall well-being. All of my recipes are free of refined sugar and many are also gluten and dairy free or offer alternatives.
When I am not in the kitchen, I love to explore the mountains of Montana with my family. I enjoy running and karate, I love to ski in the winter, even if my kids have far surpassed my skill level, I ride horses whenever I get the opportunity and I spend lots of time in our garden, growing vegetables and herbs and making the most out of our own seasonal harvest! I hope my recipes will inspire you to make delicious meals, make new memories, create bonds in the kitchen and maybe even play a tiny roll in bringing out the best in you!
